1. Be in nature

One of the things that has truly helped me refocus and recharge has been just being in nature. Nature has a way of bringing us back to center.

Being in nature lowers stress, promotes happiness, and improves productivity. It can be so calming, and nothing is better than getting some fresh air.

Next time you’re feeling tightly wound or are feeling anxious try going out to your nearest park or enjoying nature.

In June, I was really feeling the effects of my vertigo kicking in after having an anxiety attack at work and had to take off from work for a day. That day I spent the entire day outdoors.

I made nature my office and when I went indoors, I feel renewed and my vertigo symptoms were next to gone.

2. Get a mani-pedi

Nothing is better than getting pampered and feeling like the Queen that you truly are. But, did you know that mani-pedis actually have great benefits for your body?

Not only do they keep your hands and feet smooth and soft, but it’s a great de-stressor. Because of the massage the nail technician gives you during the process, you are increasing your blood circulation and improving mobility for your joints.

Lastly, getting regular mani-pedis lowers your chances of your nails developing fungi and other infections. It also encourages new cell growth, leaving your nails stronger and healthier.

If you can’t make it to a nail salon to get your monthly mani-pedi in, make a spa day at home and do it yourself. Grab a few of your pals, enjoy some adult beverages, pamper each other, and have a fun, self-care date day with your friends.

3. Get a facial

Like mani-pedis, facials are just as beneficial, if not more.

Facials reduce stress, cleanse your skin, prevent aging, promote blood circulation, rejuvenates and detoxifies your skin and so much more!

I’ve never been to get a professional facial, but I am looking forward to the day that I do.

If you can’t get a professional facial, I recommend doing it yourself.

Whether it be a DIY facial or a ready made facial you buy from the store, make sure that you are doing your research and using the proper ingredients that are safe for your skin type.

Check out these awesome DIY masks on my Pinterest.

Self-Care Date Day Ideas: My Face Mask

My go-to face mask that I have bought has to be the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Warming Mud Mask. This mask is so rich and creamy the entire time. It never gets hard like most mud masks do.

When you first apply it, it feels nice and warm.

I have really sensitive skin and a lot of masks and face products make my face break out.

Every time that I have used this mask I have seen nothing but great results.

It leaves my face feeling refreshed and I can see the difference with my pores around my nose becoming noticeably smaller. It cleans out your pores so well.

On top of all of that, this mask is paraben, phthalate and synthetic fragrance free. It is also made with 100% vegetarian ingredients.

4. Take a bubble bath

Bubble baths have so many therapeutic benefits, but they’re also good for some many other reasons. They relieve stress, aid sleep, soothe muscle tension, and reduce cold and flu symptoms.

The steam from the bath will open and clear the nasal passages, reducing congestion and headaches.

With fall and winter right around the corner, it’s so important to make sure to kick those cold and flu germs to the curb so we can enjoy all that fall has to offer.

You don’t have to break the bank to get a good bubble bath in either. Browse these recipes and find the one that best suits you.

5. Take yourself out to dinner/lunch

We all like to be wined and dined. Why wait for someone to take you out? Take yourself out!

There is nothing wrong with going to a restaurant by yourself.

If anything, you should feel like a total bad ass that doesn’t need a man to take you out! Uplift yourself.

Take yourself to your favorite restaurant and just have some alone time.

Your mind will thank you and so will your wallet.

6. Go to the zoo or aquarium

One of my favorite things to do is go to a zoo or aquarium and have some time with the animals.

Most zoos and aquariums provide immense support to global conservation efforts. They have captive breeding and research programs which help to conserve many different species’ that would otherwise go extinct without out help.

I’m from Atlanta and Zoo Atlanta collects 25 cents from every general admission ticket purchased to field conservation programs for wildlife. How awesome!

When you give to others you usually feel good about yourself. Also, watching animals be animals can be so calming and relaxing.

7. Eat some chocolate

Running short on time but need to take a quick break? Eating chocolate may not seem like it could be beneficial, but dark chocolate is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health.

Dark chocolate is loaded with minerals and has a decent amount of soluble fiber.

It is a powerful source of antioxidants. Dark chocolate may even improve blood flow and lower blood pressure!!

Need I say more? Take care of yourself and eat some dark chocolate!!

8. Travel

Have some extra money and some free time? Why not take a trip?

I have noticed that I feel the most at peace and relaxed when I go on a trip.

Traveling disconnects you from your daily life and actually improves your health by reducing stress and lowers your chances of getting heart disease.

I have been using Airfarewatchdog to keep track of the lowest prices on flights for quite some time now and I love it!

I highly recommend using Airfarewatchdog to book your next trip.

9. Netflix and Chill

This one by far my favorite because it’s just so easy!

After a long and stressful day at work I can always come back home, kick back, and watch some Netflix. Plus, you can always incorporate any of the above self-care date day ideas while watching Netflix.

A great movie that I recommend others to watch on their self-care date day is Always Be My Maybe with Ali Wong and Randall Park.

10. Clean/Declutter

One of the important things that I learned when I manifested $2,000 was to clean out and cleanse the old, negative energy.

There are so many benefits to cleaning and decluttering.

Decluttering creates a sense of confidence and self-efficacy. It can be energizing and reduce anxiety. Decluttering can even reduce relationship and family tension.

If your space is clean, then you will probably feel better about yourself as well.

With the holidays right around the corner, keeping family and relationship tensions down is of the utmost importance.

This also means that entertaining these people will be prevalent.

When my family used to come around for holidays, the staple of every event was the game time.

At the time, we had a pool table and a 10 person poker table. As one table was being used to play pool, the other was being used to play any number of games.

One thing that my mom and I were really concerned about was keeping our pool table in the best shape.

  1. It may seem strange to some, but decluttering and organizing sometimes feels very much like a self-care day date to me! I’m glad you included it here. The other suggestions are great too – especially Get Outside!!

    1. I don’t think it’s strange at all! I always find the most enjoyment out of days when I have a clean house! Thanks for reading and commenting!

    1. Thank you for reading and commenting! There are plenty of mud masks out there that are completely gross. Give it another shot, you’d be surprised. This one that I used felt like putting a really thick cream on my face

  2. I love to sit at the beach and just watch the waves. Something about the waves and water just always help me relax. I am a water girl and sitting on a boat also helps.
